• Use Fresh Ingredients

The more fresh the milk you use when frothing, the more foamy and delicious your frothing experience will be. The reason for this is as milk ages, the fats within it break down, and the more broken down fat your milk has, the less foamy it will get when frothing.

• Different Milk Yields Different Froth

The various types of milk will have different fat content, consistency, and liquidity, all yielding a different froth. Here’s a quick and easy guide that explains what kind of foam to expect from some of the different kinds of milk available. 

• Whole Milke: Expect this to give you the richest most flavorful foam due to its high-fat content.
• 2% Milk: With more water content and less fat this creates a lighter tasting but still rich foam. 

Skim/Fat-Free Milk: Because there is no fat it’s easier to froth into foam, but it has one of the least rich flavors. It is one of the airiest and light foams you can make from milk.

Almond/Nut Milk: Nut milk surprisingly froths and foams just as easily as diary/lactose milk. The biggest downside is that the froth and bubbling is lost fairly quickly, so you’ll have to drink fast.

Lactose-Free Milk: This is a tricky one. Because it’s only similar to milk in its name and not in its actual contents, we don’t recommend this one too quickly. It can work, but results may vary depending on the brand and age of the product.

One final note: every brand is unique in its exact processing and production of milk. Don’t judge an entire type of milk on one brand or flavor from a brand. We recommend trying different brands within a type of milk as you seek to make the perfect froth. 

Usability of the K-Café Special Edition

If you’re a diehard Keurig user you know how dead simple using one of their machines is, and we’re happy to report that the K-Café Special Edition keeps things that way. While it does have a few more moving parts, they’re all simple to use and intuitive to figure out. So while you may have to hit a few more buttons to brew a cappuccino or latte, or choose your cup size, etc., you’ll still have your coffee as simply and easily as you’ve come to expect from a Keurig.
